The children use the treasure chest and bin to read and sort words into real and nonsense words.

Year 1 homework. Pack includes: *Autumn 2nd term homework overview plus additional sheets. *Spring 1st term homework 2 variations plus additional sheets. * Spring 2nd term homework. * Summer term 1 homework.

These have been used in Year 1. The children get into pairs. Partner 1 is the teacher and points to the word, Partner 2 reads the word. They then swap over so that they both get to read all of the words. It is the ‘teachers’ job to support their partner to self correct the words. Once complete the children put sound buttons on the words and then practise writing them on the back of the sheet.

Is it real? Phonics game. 1.Read a card from the pile. 2.If the word isn’t real, stay where you are. 3.If the word is real, move one space forward. 4.The first person to land on the gem, wins!

Design a Pokemon: Chn to design and describe their own Pokemon character. Design sheet- children to draw and label their design- then evaluate it once they have made it. Individual task sheet for final design. Body parts sheet for children to cut and stick on their Pokemon design sheet

Phonics morning sheet sorting real and nonsense words

Year 1 Handwriting Group plan and cursive handwriting sheets.

Pokemon nonsense word game. 2 player game. Directions: 1. Roll the dice. 2. Move your counter that number of spaces. 3. Read the word you land on. If you get it right stay on the word. If you get it wrong go back to the space you were on. 4. First person to reach their Pokémon is the winner!

World Religion day Buddhism task. This resource has been used in Year 1. Teaching the main beliefs and practices of the Buddhist faith. Pack includes: input PowerPoint and activity sheet which can be used over a few days.

Phonics Phase 5 Reading Challenges. Children work with a partner. Partner 1 points to the word acting as the teacher and partner 2 sounds out and blends the word. Children swap over and take it in turns to be the teacher and then go back and put the sound buttons on.

This reading incentive has been used successfully in Year 1. Photos of the children were printed and laminated so that every time they read 10 more times they would visit a new setting which was placed on the wall in a line. Prize stars were placed on particular settings so the children were rewarded for their reading achievements.

Table Top English Word bank book These have been used in Year 1. They were laminated and fastened together using metal hoops. The children were then encouraged to use them regularly during their work. I did plan to create 'Maths Top Tips' books but haven't got round to it yet! English word bank book includes- *Time words. *Conjunctions. *Adjectives *High Frequency WordsPase 2-5 *2A sentence types. *Simple Sentence types. *Conjunction Sentence types.

Differentiated worksheets. Children to order the words into alphabetical order and to find the definitions using a dictionary or match the definition to the correct word.
